and a Happy and Healthy 2016!

There are fewer refugees coming to Munich now, but more are expected once it gets warmer again. (It’s been an incredibly mild winter so far though.) The latest news is that the Münchner Forum for Islam (MFI) has published a booklet on how to behave in Germany that is especially directed at refugees who are Muslims. The booklet explains, for example, how Germans (or rather Bavarians) greet each other. The explanations of the unwritten, as well as written, rules in Germany are accompanied by a verse from the Quran to show that these rules are compatible with Islam. The Holocaust and extermination of Jews are also mentioned. No matter whether you think such a booklet can really help someone to integrate, it’s quite a statement from the existing Muslim community here – and a very positive one. (If you’re curious: an English version of the booklet is available at islam-muenchen.de/brochuere.html)
